Storage Solutions continued!

Smart storage ideas is one of the most important things to remember in any home particularly for smaller spaces.

It's a continuing battle for all of us.  We accumulate so many things over time and cant find it in ourselves to de-clutter.....

As I do a fair amount of my research on-line to get ideas and source inspiration, I came across something that may be of interest to some....... a combination of two spaces worked into one along with that dreaded storage dilemma solved :)

This space is smart and contemporary but it also gives the illusion of space by use of colour and design.  By adding decals which have been positioned to draw the eye upwards is creating a sense that the room has high ceilings .... very clever as well as keeping the main palette neutral and using black as the "feature" point.

The design is so versatile and fluid in it's structure that you could quite easily improvise or add your own personal touch with ease.

Colour - Tiffany Blue

Receiving a gift from Tiffany & Co is very special and one of the things which sticks in my mind most apart from the gift is the colour "Turquoise".

I just love seeing how this colour is incorporated in all different facets of interiors.  It may be just a small vase or cushions but it is definitely a colour which can uplift a room/area immediately.

So, I guess... the reason for me to write this post is to put forward some ideas for you on how such a colour can be used in your home that will also add a little bit of luxury and glamour to it as well.

My Favourite home decor pieces right now!!!!!

I have no idea how to start this post today as my mind is running a hundred miles per hour due to being overwhelmed of what is out and about at the moment.  There are so many things to buy, I just wish I had all money in the world to buy them but, I think that's a saving grace in itself as I don't really need to add anything extra particularly when I am about to have a garage sale to clear out a whole heap of bric-a-brac.

In any case, I am still going to let my inspirations flow and at least allow myself to indulge and share with you some of the things that I am loving at the moment.  So many to choose from, where do I start?????

Outdoor Entertaining Ideas

Warmer Days and Warmer Nights .......... let's get our outdoor entertaining ready for just that "ENTERTAINING" :)

The times have certainly changed with the mindset of people.  The cost of living is becoming increasingly more expensive which also means, when we have a night out on the town and our pockets feel rather empty by the end of the evening!

Outdoor entertaining/Alfresco living has become more and more popular due to the above circumstances but the positive to this is that most seem to embrace this style of living, and it is certainly being shown through design and styling of these areas.

I like to think that we are creating our own private oasis - a place to enjoy the company of friends and family in our homes.

Outdoor living space doesn't have to cost a fortune - you can mix old with the new - it has to be something that is comfortable and appealing to you as well as making sure that it's user friendly and easy to maintain without thinking OMG this is too good to be outside.  Don't forget though, you can still have accessories which are weather proof and are also able to withstand our sporadical climate conditions which are not so unusual these days!

What I am going to show you is your basic to your extreme outdoor/alfresco ideas but, you don't have to create this exact image you can take "a little bit of this and a little bit of that". It's really just about enhancing the space that you may already have!

Perfect example of mixing old with new and in a small space

Forget the outdoor fireplace here - I'm looking at the furnishings/accessory ideas

Concertinaed doors with and outdoor kitchen and BBQ area ....what more would you want!!!

In my next post I will create a mood board to give you a clearer perspective/more in depth idea on how you could enhance your own current space with accessories and accent items.

Norma House - Palm Beach (Northern Beaches, Sydney Australia)

Beautiful:Stunning:Gorgeous

I wanted to share with you one of the most beautiful properties situated in Sydney's. Northern Beaches

NORMA HOUSE - Palm Beach

This house is situated in a location like no other as it was one of the first Sandstone Houses to be built in Sydney's Palm Beach.

Even though the home has been transformed on the inside it still retains it's majestic beauty from the past.  It has been photographed endlessly and there is no wonder why as it is truly stunning in every shape and form from it's exterior to it's interior combined with 180 degree views to die for!

Sometimes the simplest forms in styling are often the most stunning

Beautiful even by night

I think I'll stay home today

Exquisite views combined with privacy

Dining with a view

Sandstone wall - phenomenal

So, what do you think?  Sometimes dreams can become reality or we can make them reality for a weekend or a week as it has now become a holiday stay property.  It is by far not the cheapest property to stay at but I can bet that it would be a memorable one!

Kitchen Envy

All I want for Christmas is my brand new kitchen ....... not really, just a little bit of a tweak here and there will suffice.  But, I do seriously have kitchen envy particularly when researching and seeing all the latest and greatest in hardware finishes, bench tops, splash backs, cabinetry OMG the list would probably never end ......

It's amazing to see how we have progressed with our design processes from "yeah, it's a kitchen" to "Kitchen Envy".

For instance, where is the key area where guest congregate .... "the kitchen".  It's like another living room in itself.  Actually,  it is the central hub for any home and that is why we now see so many add-ons which give it a WOW factor.

Anyway, enough of me going on and on but instead I thought you can now drool a little!

We all have our wish list and nothing is wrong in dreaming a little :)

Love the stools and lighting - adds some charm and character

Home Interiors with a Moroccan Influence

I have been noticing of late that there is a certain trend which has been a fundamental key element in quite a number of home interiors - indoor as well as outdoor!

MOROCCAN - bright colours, textured furnishings, beat metal, lanterns, rugs and a combination of wood and wicker.  It's wonderful to see such a change rather than the same old slick lines and minimalistic approach in styling - a breath of fresh air, particularly when summer is just around the corner.

This current styling influence most certainly puts a spring back into my step!

It's a style that you can really do whatever you want with i.e keep it simple and have amazing accent items or just go completely off the Richter scale :)

Here are a few ideas I have created!

Wallpaper is here to stay!

The days have passed where our first thoughts of wallpaper was "Arghhhh" and we would cringe. Well, Wallpaper is back and has been for a little while, and in a big way.

We are fortunate enough to have great creative designers out there who have added an edge and achieved great results incorporating traditional and contemporary styles.

Wallpaper can be used in many different ways i.e. feature walls, art work, bedheads and they can also disguise unpleasant mishaps on our walls :)

One of the big things right now is bringing exterior finishes into our interiors.  It all depends on what your looking for and how far you will go to get a reaction!

So to sum it up ..... wallpaper is not so drab anymore, we can create, be innovative and embrace the trend!

Spring has Sprung, Colours to Inspire and Delight

The days are getting brighter and the nights are getting warmer.
Our moods are bright so let's get our colours right!

As the season changes so do our views on colour be it in fashion or in your home.

The warmer weather makes your feel alive and we tend to turn to colours which have a wonderful effect on us - you smile, you celebrate, your happy!

It's not all about incorporating colours in your home, it's also when you are entertaining.  For instance; a colourful funfilled cocktail, flowers and decorations which can be as simple as glasses or a vase.  What I'm trying to say do what makes you feel happy and what makes you smile - the sun's out, so celebrate!
